Draggy Transparency
Last updated 20 October 2026
This page says plainly who makes Draggy, how it was built, what it can and cannot do on your devices, and how you can check that for yourself.
Who makes it
Draggy is made by Joao Valente, an independent Apple developer. Other apps and open-source projects: portfolio.ovalente.online and github.com/Joaov41. Contact: joao.valente@outlook.com.
How it was built
Draggy was built with AI coding agents (Claude Code), directed and reviewed by me. I wrote the plan, the wire protocol and the task briefs, and the agents wrote most of the Swift code against them. Every change was built and tested before it was merged: 86 automated tests for the networking, encryption and file transfer code, 5 UI tests on iPhone, and an end-to-end script that pairs an iPhone with the Mac app and moves files both ways. I tested it by hand on my own iPhone and Mac.
The app has no AI features of its own, and nothing you move is sent to an AI service.
What it does on your devices
- iPhone and iPad: asks for Local Network access to find your Mac. Your files live in Draggy's own folder, visible in the Files app.
- Mac: a menu-bar app. It asks for Automation access to Finder only to place a received file where it landed on the Desktop. It is not sandboxed, because the sandbox blocks scripting Finder and writing to the Desktop without asking every time. The download is signed with my Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
- Network: Bonjour on your local network, and encrypted connections between your paired devices only. No internet, no accounts, no analytics, no crash upload. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
How you can check
- Signature:
codesign -dv --verbose=2 /Applications/Draggy.appshows the teamHNG8WV554B.spctl -a -vv /Applications/Draggy.appshows the notarization. - Network: a firewall such as Little Snitch or LuLu shows Draggy talking only to devices on your local network.
- Files: everything Draggy keeps is in the folders listed in the Privacy Policy.
Limits worth knowing
- Your iPhone or iPad and the Mac must be on the same Wi-Fi network, or close enough to connect directly.
- The Mac cannot tell which side your iPhone is on. You set it once in the Draggy menu.
- On the Mac, Desktop Stacks file images into a stack, so Finder cannot place them where they landed.
- The Mac app is not in the Mac App Store, because the store requires the sandbox.
